This page details the Highway Patrol patch designed by
Ed Bauer when the outfit was renamed from “Motorcycle”
to “Highway.” The original Motorcycle patch was primarily
black and red. This patch was designed to reflect the light
blue which had then become the new color of PD shirts and cars.
(Note: by Ed Bauer- "We all hated these light blue shirts which
we felt look like “bus drivers,” not police officers. I was so
glad to see the PD reverted back to the dark blue shirts."
